During their visit to the schools, the Yangon Office representatives presented the donated items to each student individually.

They were received with a welcoming ceremony at each school.

Students were waving goodbye to their visitors.
Every year Yangon Office donates school supplies and uniforms to 200 students at three primary schools in the township of Mingaladon, located on the outskirts of Myanmar's capital city. This donation program started in 2005, when employees temporarily transferred to a Sumitomo Corporation Group company then operating in Yangon, and visiting workers from Japan, contributed funding to purchase school supplies for donation. Unfortunately, the Group company closed down its local operations and left the region. Yangon Office, however, has kept the program going.
On May 25, representatives of Yangon Office visited the three schools to present the donations--consisting of school bags and umbrellas as well as textbooks--directly to individual children. The children who received the items came from disadvantaged backgrounds or were selected high-achievers. The visitors were warmly received with a welcoming ceremony, during which they spent time getting better acquainted with school officials and teachers as well as students in a friendly atmosphere.
The donation program benefits the local community by helping children from needy families to continue their schooling and encouraging high-achievers to study harder. Now in its sixth year, the program is greatly appreciated by local residents and has become a fixed event on the annual community calendar. Yangon Office intends to continue this and other social contribution activities to help create a better society in the region.
