Sumitomo Corporation Scholarship was established in 1996 to help educate future leaders in Asia by supporting university students in the region. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the program, the National University of Mongolia this year organized a special commemoration in combination with the scholarship award ceremony.

The celebration was attended by Director of Higher and Vocational Education Department of Ministry of Education, Culture and Science the Japanese ambassador to Mongolia, President of the National University of Mongolia, and other relevant figures. President Davaa expressed in his address his appreciation for the scholarship program that Sumitomo Corporation has continued since its launch in 1996, supporting a total of about 250 students including the 20 currently studying. He also offered words of encouragement to the students present to receive their scholarship.

A reunion of the scholarship recipients, both graduates and current students, was held on the evening of the same day. The attendees are now working in a variety of fields and industries, both within government organizations and private corporations in Mongolia and overseas. Some are employed by Sumitomo Corporation Group companies.

Over its 15-year history of the program, scholarships were granted to a total of 10,000 university students in Asia. Sumitomo Corporation will continue to support university students in the region.
