Sumi Agro Poland Sp. z.o.o., (SAP) an associated company of Sumitomo Corporation, has received the bronze prize in the Consumer Award 2009 in the agricultural chemicals section. Winners of the award, which is sponsored by the most popular newspaper in Poland, are selected based on independent assessment criteria and every year companies that deal in consumer goods anxiously await the results. SAP placed after two major agricultural chemical companies, Bayer AG and BASF SE, in the agricultural chemicals section, a new category in this year's award.

Based in Poland, SAP engages in a broad scope of business activities ranging from sales of proprietary agricultural chemicals and fertilizers to consulting on crop cultivation and providing technological support. By offering services catered to local needs, the company has achieved outstanding growth, with some of its products achieving the top market share in Poland. SAP employees said they believed the award was the result of the high level of consumer trust in SAP's products as well as their reputation for reliability. The employees also reported that they are determined to continue providing value-added products and services and seem highly motivated to make a meaningful contribution in the future.

SAP is a subsidiary of Sumi Agro Europe Ltd. (SAE), which does business in Central and Eastern Europe (including Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Romania), Western Europe (including France and Spain), and the CIS. In 2010, as part of SAE's strategy to reinforce its corporate brand, a new brand logo will be adopted for use in its regional business operations. SAP, which will also be using this new logo, says it will strive to become increasingly attuned to Poland's needs, building on its success in the Consumer Award.
