Sumitomo Corporation's operating company Summit Agro Argentina was awarded first prize at Argentina's FAMA 2008 awards for advertising by companies engaged in the farming industry. The awards, given to companies operating in the fields of agrichemicals, fertilizers, seeds, farming machinery and so on, were judged by independent experts and representatives from advertising agencies and newspapers. This is the first time a Japanese company has won first prize. Out of the company's TV, radio and other media advertising, its radio and print advertising were highly commended by judges.

Summit Agro Argentina has continued to grow steadily since its establishment in October 2001 as a result of its efforts to disseminate technologies as well as its sales and advertising activities, which have made the company's Japanese-made agrichemicals widely known to general public.

Local staff voiced their appreciation for the positive publicity brought by the award. One staff member commented, "It's gratifying to have our advertising recognized in this way and confirms that we were successful in conveying the benefits of our products." Another said, "Cheap agrichemicals have been the mainstay in Argentina, but people are gradually becoming interested in Japanese-made products that are not only effective but also friendly to the environment. This will give us a decided boost in confidence with regard to the promotion of our products."
