Shop Channel, the TV shopping channel operated by Jupiter Shop Channel, this summer launched a new live program "Let's meet Japan" that features the local specialties and products of different areas across Japan.
So far the program has featured various areas such as Okinawa, Hokkaido and so on. The fifth in this series, a special celebrating the 12th anniversary of Shop Channel, was aired live from Odaiba, Tokyo on November 27. Winners of a special draw were invited to Hotel Grand Pacific Le Daiba to take part in the program, which was broadcast live across the country.
As part of the event--the largest ever in terms of audience participation--10 of the most popular guests of the Shop Channel appeared on stage. In a uniquely entertaining twist on the program, rather than presenting their own companies' products, the guests introduced their favorites among the items in Shop Channel's special hit lineups.
Over 50 of Shop Channel's regular brands set up display booths around the live-broadcast stage, where audiences had the opportunity to examine and purchase products. "It was lucky to be able to purchase in a super-discounted-price, where I thought everything would be sold at a listed price." said one audience member, while others commented, "I enjoyed looking at the back stage of the show which I always see on TV," and "It was a great experience to meet and talk with my favorite cast and guests."
