Answer
Could you describe your job?
My jobs are managing daily cash flow of Sumitomo Corporation of America by raising money from bank loans, issuing commercial paper, and medium term notes and providing funds to our subsidiaries.
Could you tell us about some of the hardships and joys you have experienced in your job?
After the Lehman shock in September 2008, we had difficulties in funding our business in the U.S. due to higher cost to borrow money from banks and to issue our commercial paper. On the bright side, I was really happy when my boss appointed me as a manager in 2009 and gave me the opportunity to participate in a training program held in Japan this February with other members from global branches.
What is your impression of the work style and attitude of Sumitomo Corporation?
The work style is very different from the Asian and European banks I had previously worked for. I like working for Sumitomo Corporation because I have a lot of opportunities to improve my business skills and I am also very interested in learning our company wide variety of business segments.

There is an outdoor skating rink in front of Rockefeller Center that my daughter likes to skate during Fall & Winter seasons.

What are your future goals and objectives?
I would like to further advance my professional career, improve my management skills and make better working relationship within business units and Tokyo office. I hope to work for Sumitomo Corporation for a long time and advance my career here. As for personal goals, I am now working on my golf swing and trying to lower my score by the end of this summer.

In the summer of 2009, we took a family trip to “Trapp Family Lodge” (Vermont), a hotel operated by the Von Trapp family who inspired movie "The Sound of Music".
