- How did you join Sumitomo Corporation?
- I knew the name of Sumitomo Corporation very well, because I grew up in Japan. In America, I used to work for an accounting firm and I never imagined that a recruiter would contact me to become involved in Sumitomo Corporation's business in America.
I participated in a half marathon race in January 2009, with my seven colleagues at Houston Office. All of us managed to complete the race.
- What puzzled you most when you started working at Sumitomo Corporation?
- Usage of abbreviation is very unique. For example, "Thank you" is abbreviated as "tks" here. At first, I only could guess that it meant "Tickets." It probably is a legacy of the terms from the days they used telex.
I already have enrolled in a half marathon race for January 2010. I am not yet confident to participate in a full marathon.
- Please tell us your hobby, opera and ballet viewing.
- Houston is a home to the world-famous Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet. Whenever I have time to spare, I visit theaters.
This past summer, I went to Santa Fe Opera House in New Mexico, a little far from Houston, to see Don Giovanni. Roll of thunder I heard from the semi open-air theater at the precise moment of the opera's climax still remains fresh in my mind.
