- What are your main responsibilities at Sumitomo?
- My main duties consist of importing and exporting non-ferrous metals, including copper and aluminum, as well as plastic and organic chemical products. Specifically, I import aluminum from Japanese metal processing companies to sell to Saudi Arabian manufacturers of cans and packaging materials. My import duties also involve supplying copper for the manufacture of air conditioners and plastics for building materials.

- When do you feel most fulfilled with your work?
- With external conditions surrounding the related industries continuing to be tough, I am striving to match or, hopefully, exceed market expectations. There are moments when I have to brace myself before taking on a huge challenge. These are the times that are really exciting.

- What is the best part of your job?
- Since I joined Sumitomo in 1992, I have enjoyed every job that came in my way. I put myself in my work with the aim of producing good results. Thanks to the inspiring opportunities I have had, I am fulfilled both at work and at home.
- Is there anything that has surprised you about working with Japanese colleagues?
- I am sometimes surprised at the stereotypical preconceptions that Japanese workers have about Saudi Arabia when they first arrive. Their ideas are invariably limited to old streets lined with Arabic buildings and people in turbans. However, by the time they leave to return to Japan, they have learned that many aspects of Saudi Arabia have been industrialized and modernized, including our infrastructure and lifestyles.
- What are your plans for the future?
- I will continue to work at Sumitomo to help the company achieve further growth. I hope that my efforts will also contribute to the further development of Saudi Arabia.
