- Please tell us about your business.
- I work as a sales manager of metal products, for example pipes, nonferrous and electrical steel. Since I am the only person in Kuwait office who is dealing with metal products, I basically look through every steps of the marketing process. For certain items, I take contact directly with Tokyo office. Nowadays there are many vendors from around the world who can bring up a very competitive price for products that are similar with the ones that we handle. However, I challenge for a tough dealing with the know-how I have cultivated from my long years of experience as a sales person.
- What do you think is important for a sales person?
- When you do business, I think relationship comes first, relationship comes second. I always take care of building and keeping good relationships with my clients. Even if I have no particular matters to talk about, I visit my clients once in a while to have a small conversation and to see how they are doing. I do this even right after I lost one deal with that client. The step-by-step effort becomes a benefit for me in the next dealing. Also, if you treasure relationship, unexpected business chances sometimes come in from someone you have not imagined. I think the products that Sumitomo Corporation handles are outstanding in the quality and certainty of the shipment. Thus, by building even more tight and firm relationships with the clients, I want to make more chances of introducing the great products!
- How do you feel about working for Sumitomo Corporation?
- I have been working for Japanese company for the past thirteen years and I like it very much. I have the impression that Japanese people are rather conservative, yet their business philosophy fits very well with my way of thinking. In Sumitomo, they leave many things to my discretion as long as I report my work in detail. Being able to work independently makes me feel a big satisfaction everyday.

- How do you spend your spare time?
- I love to stay with my family. During my son’s summer vacation, I take holidays and the whole family visits my parents in India. Since I have clients that need me, I take my computer with me there and spend the forenoon doing work. In the afternoon, I relax myself talking with my family and spending time quietly. My plan for the future is to take my family on a travel to other parts of the world, perhaps to Japan. From Mount Fuji to Kyoto city, there are many beautiful places that I definitely want to show to my family.
My mother blessed the key of our house when we bought the new one. According to the Indian culture, we take blessings from our parents, when we buy something new like house, car or even at weddings
