Answer
Please tell us about your job.
I'm the leader of a team responsible for supply chain management in the steel pipe business in India. The team is made up of seven members including me, and we undertake various operations, such as negotiating with buyers and safety management in the supply chain process. Before this team was formed, I had been a member of a metals trading business team. The job of team leader, which involves assigning tasks to members and helping grow their abilities, is a totally new challenge for me, but I'm really enjoying the work.

With my colleague & Director, visited to MEHRANGARH FORT, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India, the palace of Prince of Jodhpur, located in Rajasthan State.

What brought you to work for Sumitomo Corporation?
After graduating from university, I worked first for a government agency. But after about four years, when I began thinking about changing my career, a friend of mine told me that Sumitomo Corporation New Delhi Office is having opening for Business Staff. In India, the name “Sumitomo” is not well-known except by business persons. I also didn't know much about the company except that it is a Japanese company with a global presence. However, after I had interviews with the company, and collected information and heard opinions about the company from people I know, I realized that in fact the company is thought highly of by many people. When I began working for the company, I was not at all clear what the metals business was, since it was totally different from what I had been doing at the government agency, and it took me some time to get used to the job. But thanks to the warm support of my colleagues, I'm now very comfortable in my work. Working for an International Company is very exciting. Although there is the pressure of the job, I very much like the corporate culture of Sumitomo Corporation that values cooperation and sharing advice across departmental boundaries.

I visited to Pipe Yard in Dubai for training. Many pipes are lying behind me

Please tell us about your future dreams.
When I travel by car in India, I'm often surrounded by children begging for money at intersections or other places when I pull up in my car. These children were born in poverty, and have no choice but to live alone on the street and their families also do not protect/do something for them because of poverty. These scenes always make me sad, and I feel I must do something to save these children. What I'm considering with my friends is to establish a non-governmental organization (NGO) to save helpless children. We want to build facilities to teach children reading and writing, to give them confidence and pride. This is still at the stage of a dream, rather than a plan, but I want to do it some day.
