The Harumi Triton Square, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Since opening in April 2001, a world-leading system has been quietly working away in the complex.
11:00 p.m. The system switches on, and seven cleaning robots move from their resting positions for a night of activity.
Operating the elevators using infrared devices, the robots move freely throughout the office building. In about four hours the elevator lobbies and hallways of 33 office building floors will be clean again.
This cleaning robot system has won the prestigious "Robot of the Year 2006" Grand Prize (Minister's Prize, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), as a pioneer in service robot applications in practice use in the real world.
"The Robot Building Cleaning System." What produced this landmark system was the dreams of the team members who were engaged in the project, wanting the first "Big Project" of the 21st century to result in a new business.
