Environmental management activities in the Sumitomo Corporation Group are conducted under the management structure shown in the chart below, led by Sumitomo Corporation's President and CEO. These activities comply with an ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS); we employ a multiple-site system to allow management of many different offices and organizations under one environmental policy. Since Sumitomo Corporation's Tokyo and Osaka offices acquired the Group's first ISO 14001 certification in June 1999, the scope of the system has been growing continuously. As of November 2011, a total of 15,000 employees in all domestic locations of Sumitomo Corporation and its 32 group companies are participating in these environmental management activities.
