| Mineral Resources Division No. 1 |
The Mineral Resources Division No. 1 handles traditional basic mineral products including non-ferrous metals as well as functional metal resources such as rare metals, rare earths and battery materials used in advanced high-tech industries.

| Mineral Resources Division No. 2 |
The Mineral Resources Division No. 2 is involved in metallurgical coal (raw material for steel-making coke), fuel coal for power generation and other industries, carbon materials including coke, carbon products including electric furnace/wrought aluminum electrode, iron ore/manganese/chrome (major components of manufactured steel), and other auxiliary materials. The Division also makes a contribution to society through playing a part in all stages of the nuclear fuel cycle including uranium.

| Energy Division |
The Energy Division deals mainly in petroleum (crude oil, petroleum products) that accounts for most of the world's primary energy, and gas (LPG = Liquefied Petroleum Gas; natural gas; LNG = Liquefied Natural Gas). The Division is also taking on the challenge of developing new business in such areas as the environment-friendly bio energy.

| Basic Chemicals & Electronics Division |
The Basic Chemicals & Electronics Business Division is engaged in trade and commercialization across a wide range of fields and applications, including organic chemicals such as ethylene, propylene, benzene, and phenols; synthetic resins including polyethylene and polypropylene; inorganic chemical products such as sulfuric acid, soda ash, and high-purity silica; rare earths; advanced electronic materials related to semiconductor/liquid crystals and printable electronics. At the same time, Sumitronics (a Sumitomo venture company) is actively engaged in the panel EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Service) business, focused mainly in Asia, U.S.A and Europe. |
| Life Science Division |
The Life Sciences Division is engaged in business around the world, involved in pharmaceutical/ healthcare services, agricultural chemicals, household pesticides, and other disease-prevention drugs, as well as pet supplies and other businesses derived from disease-prevention drugs. |
