Renewable Energy Supply Projects

Sumitomo is engaged in wind power generation projects in Stanton, the United States, and Inner Mongolia, China. Sumitomo has worked together with Fuji Electric Systems Co., Ltd., a leading geothermal power plant constructor, on eight separate projects in Indonesia. Sumitomo has delivered, or is scheduled to deliver geothermal power generation facilities of 638.5 megawatts in capacity to Indonesia. In Indonesia, only 4.5% of the power generation capacity of geothermal energy is being used. The Indonesian government has announced plans to increase geothermal power generation capacity to 6,000 megawatts by 2020 and 9,050 megawatts by 2025.


Water and Sewage – Water Treatment Projects in Mexico

Today, sewage facilities allowing for economic growth and urbanization are a major issue in many countries. Sumitomo has entered into a business alliance with Degrémont S.A. (France), the leading firm in water and sewage treatment in Mexico, and is actively engaged in sewage treatment projects in that country. In conjunction with Degrémont, Sumitomo is operating three separate sewage treatment projects, provideing a total treatment capacity of 630,000 m3/day after completion of the expansion work. These operations provide sewage treatment equivalent to approximately 2.3 million individuals. Treated water contributes to industrial growth and regional society development, used in agricultural and industrial applications, for power plant cooling and many other purposes.
