It also has the function to support and promote all the operations in the company with the specialized skill and expertise.
The New Business Development & Promotion Division consolidates, strategically develops and promotes businesses in the environment and new energy sector such as solar photovoltaic power generation, emissions trading and reduction of greenhouse gas, environmental recycling, and Lithium-ion batteries, and investment for sourcing innovative technologies and new business seeds.
As one of the largest Japanese companies in the financial business field, the Financial Service Division conducts proprietary trading and deals in derivative products in the commodity market. It is also engaged in a leasing business mainly focusing on aircrafts in cooperation with Sumitomo Mitsui Finance & Leasing Co., Ltd. (SMFL), a joint venture of Sumitomo Corporation.
The main functions of the Logistics & Insurance Business Division include the provision of multiple logistics functions domestically and internationally via Sumisho Global Logistics Co., Ltd. and other group companies and the buildup of overseas industrial parks in Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.
