Sumitomo Corporation Tohoku is a general trading company that conducts business with deep roots in the Tohoku region, which is a base of operations (including Niigata), operating in three major sales groups.
The goal of the Metal Products Group is to contribute to the industrial development of the Tohoku region, mainly in terms of construction and civil engineering materials sales, supplying steel products to customers under optimum conditions.
The Machinery & Electric Group continues to be involved in the traditional businesses including sales of HVAC, power generation equipment, electric lines, other industrial materials, and other equipment. Recently, the Electric Power Group has become aggressively engaged in new business lines, including the sales of environmentally conscious energy-saving devices in cooperation with local companies.
The Energy and Social Infrastructure Group conducts sales of sash, paint and other construction materials for large-scale facilities and civil engineering/construction projects as well as chemical products for factories, delivers pork, eggs and other food products to supermarkets throughout the Tohoku region, and is involved in the energy supply business, mainly selling petroleum and coal to power companies.
