The Kansai Block is a broad organization established in April 2001, covering the Kinki, Chugoku and Shikoku regions. While each business unit within Sumitomo Corporation headquarters is responsible for developing and implementing product strategy on a global and regional basis, the Kansai Block works closely with individual business units, managing strategies for multiple products, and proposing localized strategies for approaching leading regional business partners. The Kansai Block is also charged with expanding its profit base, striving to develop multidimensional business opportunities, and taking advantage of the Sumitomo integrated corporate strength. The market for the Kansai Block is not limited to the Kansai region, but also extends to wider overseas markets to develop business related to the local/ regional corporations and clients in the Kansai region as the Kansai Block works closely with Sumitomo Corporation group business units and other extra-regional organizations.
